Rules of the Colosseum

🏛️ What is the Colosseum?

The Colosseum is AvatarShot's photo battle arena. Creators enter a challenge with their best shot, the community votes, and a winner takes the prize the challenge offers — points, Linden $, or a place of honor in a dedicated Special Issue.

🛡️ Individual or Team

Each challenge is set to one of three formats by its creator:

• Individual gladiators only — Individual — every gladiator fights alone, one entry per person.
• Teams only — Teams — you must form or join a team to enter; the team's votes are the sum of every member's approved entry.
• Both — individuals and teams — Both — individuals and teams compete side by side, each with their own separate winner and prize.

⚔️ How to Challenge — Step by Step

1. Open a challenge from the arena floor and read what it asks for.
2. If it's team-based, create a team or accept an invite from a captain before entering.
3. Submit your entry — upload a photo (or paste a link to one), add a title if you like, and set its maturity rating.
4. The arena keeper (an admin) reviews it — approved, rejected, or sent back with notes to fix and resend.
5. Once approved, your photo appears in the feed and in the challenge gallery.
6. When voting opens, every ❤️ like on your photo counts as a vote. Rally your allies!
7. The arena keeper marks the winner — prizes are granted automatically, instantly.

🏆 Prizes

A challenge can offer any combination of these, chosen by whoever creates it:

• 🏅 Social Sparks points — Social Sparks points — credited straight to your account, usable toward badges.
• 💰 Linden $ prize — Linden $ — paid into your wallet if you have a verified Second Life avatar linked; otherwise you receive an equivalent points prize instead.
• 📖 Also publish a Colosseum Special Issue — Featured & Special Issue — your winning shot gets promoted, and may be published in a dedicated Colosseum magazine issue.

A winning team's prize is split evenly among its members with an approved entry.

🌐 Every World Welcome

The Colosseum isn't limited to Second Life. A challenge may be open to any virtual world, or restricted by its creator to one in particular (Second Life, IMVU, VRChat, Sinespace...). Check a challenge's details before entering.

Every gladiator picks an identity that follows them everywhere in the arena — a badge shown next to your name on entries, teams and leaderboards:

🔓 Become an Arena Master

Challenges are created by admins by default — but any gladiator can unlock the right to create and launch their own, by spending Social Sparks points from the Colosseum home page. Once unlocked, it's permanent.
